About the role

We're hiring our first dedicated People & Talent Lead to find great people, get them hired, and make CarEdge a place they want to stay. You'll run recruiting end to end and own day-to-day HR for a remote team of W-2 employees, contractors, and international team members. This is a builder role: you'll set up the processes we don't have yet and run them yourself.

What you'll own

  • Recruiting, end to end. You write the job posts, source candidates, screen them, coordinate interviews, and close offers. You partner with hiring managers on what each role really needs.
  • The hiring pipeline. You keep candidates moving, track time to fill and pass-through rates, and make sure no applicant goes unanswered.
  • Contractor network growth. You help recruit and onboard our growing network of concierge and buying-service contractors, along with full-time hires.
  • Onboarding and offboarding. Every new hire is set up and productive in their first week. Every departure is handled cleanly and respectfully.
  • HR operations. You own our HR platform (Justworks), employee records, benefits enrollment, time off, and policy questions. You're the first stop for anyone with a people question.
  • Compliance. You keep us current on employment requirements across states and for international team members, working with our General Counsel when needed.
  • Comp and performance cycles. You run the logistics for annual reviews, raises, bonuses, and equity grants, and keep pay data organized and consistent.
  • Culture and retention. You help us keep a remote team connected, and you notice when someone is at risk of leaving before they do.

Who you are

  • 3+ years in recruiting, talent acquisition, or HR generalist work, ideally at a startup or growing company. Doing both recruiting and HR is a big plus.
  • A strong closer. You can sell a candidate on a fast-moving company and get offers accepted.
  • Organized and discreet. You handle confidential information with care and keep many processes running at once.
  • Familiar with HR systems. Experience with Justworks, Gusto, Rippling, or a similar PEO or HRIS, plus an applicant tracking system.
  • Grounded in the basics of employment compliance. You know when a question needs a lawyer.
  • Experience with contractors or international hires is a plus.
  • Comfortable with founding-team velocity. There's no HR playbook yet. You'll write it.
